Dominic Downs
Training Specialties: Director of Pitching Development
Dominic Downs is currently the Director of Pitching Development at the Origin Athletics. Dominic is certified by Driveline Baseball in both Foundations of Pitching and Pitch Design. He focuses on improving movement quality, individual programming, and using data through Rapsodo to develop pitches. Additionally, Dominic is certified through Functional Range Conditioning as a mobility specialist (FRCms). This assists in helping athletes gain strength in new ranges of motion, injury prevention, and promotion of movement quality. In addition to providing instruction to athletes, Dominic will coordinate with the all Origin Athletics instructors to continue to develop our pitching resources.
For the past several years, Dominic has developed and programmed athletes from middle school age and up to focus on velocity, pitch types and command of pitches. Several of these athletes have moved on to play at the collegiate and professional levels.
As a Coach – He has coached 13-18u travel baseball and has worked with athletes from high school through professional baseball on developing velocity, arm health, mechanics, and analytically improving different pitch types. Dominic is currently assists at Rochester University working with athletes on off-season and in-season development and programming.
As a Player – Downs graduated from Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan where he played three years of varsity baseball. Following his high school career, Dominic played four years at Rochester University (formally Rochester college).
